Frequently Asked Questions about the Rebate of Consultation Fees from Private Health Insurers

13th July 12

Q: Why did my private health insurer refuse to pay the rebate of consultation fees you charged even though you are a registered Chinese medicine practitioner from 1st July 2012?

A: Private health insurers have the discretion to choose the health care providers with whom they enter into commercial arrangements . Not all private health insurers currently recognise FCMA as a national professional association, despite the FCMA being recognised by most of the private health insurers.

Q: How can I get the rebate from the private health insurer then?

A: It is the private health insurer’s right to choose the providers they recognise. Please see below for a list of private health insurers that do recognise FCMA, thereby resolving the issues in claiming your rebate.
